100 Mile Labor Day Challenge!

Good Morning Everyone!  We finally woke up this morning to less humidity & no rain!  Yea!  I had a great time at Boot Camp & enjoyed the cooler weather.
I wanted to share a challenge with you that I found on Daily Mile.  I use this site to log my workouts & I really like it!  I've met some awesome people who have been very motivating to me and my workouts, which I always appreciate!
The Challenge is 100 Mile Labor Day Challenge.  Pretty simple, just run/walk/jog 100 miles by Labor Day and log it on your Daily Mile profile!  100 miles is a great goal by Labor Day!  I hope you'll join me on Daily Mile & in this challenge!  Having a challenge like this is good for me so I have something to hold me accountable, and I hope you will find it helpful as well!

Summer Boot Camp

Yesterday I joined the YMCA Booty Bustin' Boot Camp.  The camp is twice a week before work until August 31st.  I am always changing up my workout so I don't get bored and so my body doesn't get "used" to the workouts I'm doing and then halts progress.  The trainer running the camp sought me out at the gym on Tuesday and told me she'd love to have me join the group.  She's a great trainer, I've watched her with her clients and so I know that she expects 100%...and that's what I like about her!  So, I thought "what the heck...what do I have to lose by going?"  Let me tell you what!?!  That was a KILLER workout!  We started with bleachers...I haven't done those since high school volleyball!  Then we did various exercises on the benches- push ups, squats, tricep dips, lunges, etc.  After that we moved to the end of the football field and did suicide drills...have you ever done that?  I hadn't...and they totally kicked my butt!  No wonder they call it BOOTY BUSTING Boot Camp!  You start at the 0 yard line & run to the 10 then run back to 0, then run to the 20 yd line and back to the 0, run to the 30 & so on & on & on & on until we ran the entire 100 yds & back...WOW!  That was a humbling experience to say the least!  Just when I think "you are really getting in shape" I had a rude awakening that I have MUCH farther to go until I can consider myself "in shape"!  Today I'm so sore too...so I'm drinking lots of water and hoping I can walk "normal" tomorrow:)

Even though it was tough, I'm SO glad I went.  It was the best workout I've had in a while, and it felt awesome.  I may not have been the fastest or the fittest...but I was there.  I showed up.  I didn't let fear get in my way.  I hope this Boot Camp can kick start the scale again cause it hasn't been moving too much:(  But, I'm not quitting.  I've come too damn far to quit!  Sometimes we have to sacrifice to allow something to happen.  If we only do what is comfortable we'll never advance or get better.  So don't be afraid to get out of your own comfort zone...you may find yourself enjoying your life a whole lot more outside the box!

Sweaty Bands & a Motivational Tee

Last week I was on one of my favorite blogs Run to the Finish & saw her post on Sweaty Bands...after reading about them I HAD to have one!  I hate when I'm working out and my hair is in my face & I'm more worried about kepping my bangs out of my eyes.  When I heard about these I figured they were worth a try, cause I've tried everything else and haven't had any luck.  Well, I got mine last Friday and I've worn it 3x since then & I'm in love!  This picture is after a 30 minute run & 20 minutes on the elliptical {excuse the squinting, it was pretty bright out}...I'd even driven home so this is actually about an hour after my workout...band still in place...I hadn't touched the band for at least 2 HOURS!
If you have issues with keeping your hair back during a workout (or anytime really, you could wear these other places besides the gym, I wore it during yardwork last weekend) then I'd recommend Sweaty Bands.  Let me know if you love them like I do!  I only ordered one but I plan to order another one soon!

Last Sunday I went shopping with my sister for her upcoming Honeymoon! She gets married in 2.5 weeks...I can hardly believe it!  While we were at the mall we walked past Lady Foot Locker {which was my very first job by the way} and she said "Am you have to get that shirt"...so I looked at it, walked right in and bought it...didn't care what the price tag said either.  I think it's perfect.

{Lucy wanted to be part of the picture...isn't she cute?}

EVERY DAMN DAY
Just Do It

Isn't that awesome?  It's a reminder to me that this journey will NEVER be over... I make the choice everyday to get up, get out there and do my best.  No excuses, No complaints... because No Matter What I owe it to myself to be the best I can be.  And at the end of the day if I've done my best & done everything I can then there is nothing left to feel but accomplishment.
