Bravo has a new show that started tonight, Thintervention with Jackie Warner. I'm a sucker for any weight loss show because I think it's great motivation and inspiration to stay on my journey. It was a great show, and the cast is all pretty different. They are all very dynamic and interesting to watch so it should be good. I love that she is having them meet with a therapist to discuss their weight issues because weight problems are really NOT about the food, but the emotions driving us TO the food.
Their first homework assignment was to go home and remove the sugar from their house, so anything with over 5g of sugar per serving had to be trashed! Whoa! I went into my kitchen over the commercial break and looked and my latest indulgence, Nature Valley Granola Thins, and saw that they have 6g of sugar. Darnit! Sugar is an addiction, and she talked a lot about it which was interesting. Even though I've lost weight I struggle a lot with sugar, peanut butter being the biggest culprit. I'm thinking about taking her advice and removing sugar from my diet, slowly...but I know once it would be out of my system I'd feel a lot better. Sugar is a problem for me, especially when I'm stressed or upset. For some reason I still feel at times that food can make things better... well, it hasn't yet, so I don't think it's ever going to! What can I say, old habits die hard!
Do you struggle with sugar? What shows, books, magazines do you read for motivation to stay on the healthy track?
I wish I had scene it
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there will be reruns, or maybe try finding it online?
ReplyDeleteDarn it! I eat way too much sugar! I need to cut back too...
ReplyDeleteYou should try Almond Butter & not the prepackaged kind. Go to Whole Foods or Wild Oats and get the kind that you have to grind. It's much healthier & SOOO yummy!!! : )
